This week I am excited for…
The Impossibility of Us by Katy Upperman
Release: July 31, 2018
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary
Synopsis via Goodreads: The last thing Elise wants is to start her senior year in a new town. But after her brother’s death in Afghanistan, she and her mother move from San Francisco to a sleepy coastal village.
When Elise meets Mati, they quickly discover how much they have in common. Mati is new to town too, visiting the U.S. with his family. Over the course of the summer, their relationship begins to blossom, and what starts out as a friendship becomes so much more.
But as Elise and Mati grow closer, her family becomes more and more uncomfortable with their relationship, and their concerns all center on one fact—Mati is Afghan.
Beautifully written, utterly compelling, and ultimately hopeful, THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF US asks—how brave can you be when your relationship is questioned by everyone you love?
This novel for real sounds sososo emotional and I definitely know i’m definitely going to cry and laugh and smile and just feel everything while reading this. Not gonna lie, at first I was a little hesitant towards this because of how cutesy the cover is (yeah idek) but after reading the synopsis i’m definitely looking forwards to this one.
I’m hoping that this one will end up being another amazing diverse novel to add to my list of faves and the love interest Mati literally sounds so cute. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my faves and the setting of a sleepy coastal town is so interesting! I actually recently got an ARC of this novel so you can BET that i’m about to dive into this ASAP!
Feel free to let me know if you’re also hyped for The Impossibility of Us and/or what other book(s) you’re anticipating. Until next time,
Happy Reading! ♡
