Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a blog meme hosted by Tressa @ Wishful Endings that spotlights upcoming anticipated releases!
This week I am excited for…
Sadie by Courtney Summers
Release: September 4, 2018
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary
Synopsis via Goodreads: A missing girl on a journey of revenge and a Serial—like podcast following the clues she’s left behind.
Sadie hasn’t had an easy life. Growing up on her own, she’s been raising her sister Mattie in an isolated small town, trying her best to provide a normal life and keep their heads above water.
But when Mattie is found dead, Sadie’s entire world crumbles. After a somewhat botched police investigation, Sadie is determined to bring her sister’s killer to justice and hits the road following a few meager clues to find him.
When West McCray—a radio personality working on a segment about small, forgotten towns in America—overhears Sadie’s story at a local gas station, he becomes obsessed with finding the missing girl. He starts his own podcast as he tracks Sadie’s journey, trying to figure out what happened, hoping to find her before it’s too late.
I’ve seen this book around on Twitter for a few weeks now and after seeing one of my favorite authors, Adrienne Young, talk about her obsession for this book i’ve been dying to get my hands on it! Not only am I a huge fan of darker contemporaries, but the fact that many scenes are told via podcasts is so intriguing to me. I don’t really see a lot of unique writing formats around YA often, so when I do i’m immediately drawn to said types of titles! Long story short, I can just tell i’m going to love this one. 👏
I’ve also seen that this is a BookExpo America Editors’ Buzz Pick and since I finally get to go to the convention this year, i’m really crossing my fingers that I can snatch a copy there! No joke, I would metaphorically die if I got one!
Feel free to let me know if you’re also hyped for Sadie and/or what other book(s) you’re anticipating. Until next time,
Happy Reading! ♡
