Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Loved But Will Never Re-Read

TTT-Big2Top Ten Tuesday is a blog meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week there’s a new given topic and you post your top ten list that goes with the subject. This weeks topic is “Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read” and at first I was thinking, “well dang if I really liked a book wouldn’t I want to re-read it???”. The truth is… no. There are many books out there that I ended up obsessing over but, quite frankly, they took so much effort to get through. The end result may have been worth it, but the thought of going through the process again makes me feel like i’m being ran over by a train.

Dramatic much?

Probably…

Okay, most definitely.

But moving on, here’s my list of books that — if being forced to re-read — would equal being mauled by a train (yup, this metaphor is officially over lol):

Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi

Is it a valid reason that I only don’t want to re-read this because Warner isn’t in it as much… I vote yes!

The Museum of Heartbreak, by Meg Leder

I loooved the characters in this book but overall it was a mega load of frustration. I also hated one side dude which didn’t help at all!

Second Chance Summer, by Morgan Matson

Nope nope NOPE. Not putting myself through that heartbreaking storyline ever again!! My wallet was already emptied out after paying for all those tissues so it definitely can’t afford another go.

Me Before You, by Jojo Moyes

This one is pretty much in the same boat as Second Chance Summer because after knowing what goes down at the end, it isn’t as fun reading about everything that comes before said tragic ending.

All of This Is True, by Lygia Day Penaflor

Listen, I LOVED this one but DANG were two of these characters a total buzz kill. I couldn’t even imagine reading about them a second time around. For real, i’d rather consume an entire bowl full of cinnamon in one go.

An Enchantment of Ravens, by Margaret Rogerson

This may be a novel that I ultimately liked but it took me SUCH a long time to get through it that the thought of starting from the beginning again pains me.

Crown of Midnight, by Sarah J. Maas

I literally can’t with this one because two things occur that have me all UGH about. Won’t say what but if you’ve read this, you know what i’m talking about…

The Elite, by Kiera Cass

Idek I just remember being frustrated to the MAX(on) HA you get it?? *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge* ANYWAYS, stupid actions/decisions + annoyed me = a no-go.

A Court of Thorns and Roses, by Sarah J. Maas

Okay but sorry not sorry I will definitely not read this again knowing what Tamlin the Tool is like in book 2. Also can I just say I cannot BELIEVE I even shipped him with a living soul for a fraction of a second. The shame is real.

Heartless, by Marissa Meyer

Honestly, I don’t even remember much about the storyline which is kind of sad but not as depressing as that freaking ending. Yeah I am definitely not putting myself through that tragic turn of events again.

  1. I’ve never read shatter Me or any of the books in that series but I have to admit I’m kinda curious! An Enchantment of Ravens is another one I’m kinda anxious to read, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. But yeah, some books even if I loved em I don’t necessarily want to revisit? For whatever reason…

    1. ahh the shatter me trilogy is wonderful! i read them 2+ years ago so my reading taste have definitely changed since then, but it was overall an easy series to get through! as for an enchantment of ravens, i feel like if you’re into fantasy you should definitely give it a try! i feel you on that last comment, some stories just took waaay to much effort to get through which is always exhausting 🤷‍♀️👏🏻
