10 Bookish Facts About Me

Heey everyone! This is my first blog post and i’m kind of nervous but at the same time super hyped. I thought to start things off I could do a little icebreaker (i’m getting traumatizing flashbacks to the first day of school) but bookish edition! So without further ado, here are 10 bookish facts about me (these are literally coming off the top of my head so this should be interesting…) ☻IMG_2073

1. I refuse to doggie-ear/annotate/do any physical changes to my books.

Okay, listen, I know technically since I bought the book it doesn’t really matter if I mess it up or not. I won’t have any crazy librarians after me — no offense to librarians — although, the one’s that I have been around are a little wild (long story) but ANYWAYS. Don’t get me wrong I do it for all of my school reads and I do have to say, I love seeing other peoples’ books with tons of annotations (I think it actually looks really cool, just not on my own children ahah).

2. I used to despise rainbow bookshelves, but now I can’t live without them!

IMG_1925When I first saw people organizing their books by the color I was so hurt. “How could people separate their series??!!” I refused to organize my shelves that way for the LONGEST time but then one day I just wanted to try it out (for aesthetic purposes) and, wow, once you go rainbow there’s really no going back! It may have took me oh, a billion years to finish it but I think the end product is literally prettier than both me and my future!!

3. I either binge read a book in one day or finish it in — no joke — two weeks.

I don’t even know man, my reading game is really freaking strange. Luckily, I’ve been doing a bit better but sometimes I’ll finish a book and go right into another one and other times it’ll take me a looooong time. Is reading mood swings a thing???

4. I actually get hypnotized by Bookstagram.

I’m kinda cracking up right now because this sounds like one of those crazy YouTube storytime titles like, “Hypnotized by my Instagram feed” or “Pictures of books made me feed my children dog food” ahaha. Seriously though, I may suck at taking bookstagram pictures but I follow some people who are truly amazing at it! I could scroll through my Instagram feed and forget about everything I was supposed to do that day just because of these gorgeous pictures of books like why do novels look cuter than any picture I’ve ever tried to take of myself?!! (I feel like i’m being very self-deprecating in this post, oops)

5. I didn’t grow up reading Harry Potter… and I still haven’t read the books.

Yeah… no excuse for that. I was just always into The Chronicles of Narnia and a LOT of mini chapter books like Cam Jensen and Junie B. Jones which are nowhere near the same literacy level as HP (I think elementary school Taylor was very intimidated — still am honestly. THERE’S SO MANY OF EM AND THEY ARE SO THICC!).

6. I get supeeeer sick if I try to read in the car.

It’s honestly the most annoying thing ever too because when I’m on long road trips and I want to read I can’t. It’s seriously such a waste of precious reading time! I’ll have to try listening to a book via audible and see how that goes. 🤷

7. I can only read school books using Audible.

No joke, I won’t be able to finish any school-assigned book any other way. It’s because most of the books they give us are literal trash (I feel like a fake book nerd saying that) and the only way I can read the entire thing is to force myself to listen to it. That way if I get distracted I can still check Twitter and still be in the world of the book (it’s actually a lifesaver!).

8. I refuse to let ANYONE borrow one of my books.

tenor (1).gifBasically my friend borrowed my copy of The 5th Wave and returned it with LITERALLY THE ENTIRE BACK COVER ALMOST RIPPED OFF (still love you mck if you’re reading this ahah). I mean, I’m not a crazy fan of the series so it wasn’t that deep but, long story short, I now have book-lending-trust-issues.

9. I am an embarrassingly emotional reader.

I will highkey get so attached to all of the characters I get introduced to and when they are in pain, yup, I am too. I cry SO much when reading but — not gonna lie — I actually like it since it’s pretty therapeutic to let all the tears flow free. Yeah, I’m getting weird…

10. I can’t read a book with a main character under 16 years-old anymore.

giphy (1).gif

I don’t know why but now that I’m becoming older than most heroines in YA it’s become really hard to read novels with MCs younger than me. I think it becomes a little less enthralling (if that makes sense) and really pulls me out of the storyline. Also, I think it’s just weird reading about a 15 year-old getting more action than me (bahah k i’m gettin extra weird now, gonna wrap this up).

Ahh we did it!!

I’m actually pretty surprised I came up with 10, it went by so fast! I hope you guys enjoyed this little get to know me post, I had a lot of fun while trying to think of these. That’s all I have for now so feel free to let me know some bookish facts about yourself, I’d love to hear ’em!

Happy reading! ♡xoxo

    1. Ahhh ikr, i’m so glad I finally figured it out! Thanks for letting me know it wasn’t working!
Agh I just thinking about writing in my books makes me cringe and my grandma got me most of the HP books for Christmas so I might be trying to read them soon, hopefully at least one!

Thank you so much, it’s been so much fun so far! I’m eager to see too because, honestly, i’m just going with the flow for now. I’m not really sure what that is but if you want to DM me more information about it via Twitter I’d love to learn about it! 🙂

  2. Great post!! Welcome to the book blogging world! ❤

So many of these things align with my bookish self! Especially the reading in cars… gosh. I used to be able to do homework on basketball trips (we had to drive a minimum of 2 hours to get to our away games), but something switched after high school. I can't even THINK about reading in a car without getting a bit nauseated.
